What is Easy Diffusion
It’s right in the name. Easy Diffusion is an easy way to download Stable Diffusion, a very popular, open-source text-to-image AI generator.
Let’s say you’ve already searched for how to download Stable Diffusion on your computer. In that case, you’ll know that it’s a complex process that involves many pieces of code, including things like specific AI models, image enhancers, Stable Diffusion itself, as well as additional programs needed to compile the code.
Before installing the AI image generator on your computer, you also have the option of accessing Midjourney online independently or using ChatGPT to create images, which is one of the things you can do with ChatGPT.
Downloading Easy Diffusion is much easier and requires only one file, compared to the separate files you need to run Stable Diffusion.
Installing Easy Diffusion
The more powerful your computer is, the better it will run. If you don’t have the following settings recommended by the Stable Diffusion website, you can still try running it, but expect slower image creation speeds.
Windows
If you use Windows, you have it the easiest. Go to Easy Diffusion’s installation page, click Download for Windows, and save the file to your computer.
When that’s done, you just need to double-click Easy-Diffusion-Windows.exe to run the installation.
Linux or macOS
If you use Linux or macOS, there are a few extra steps in the process.
Go to Easy Diffusion’s installation page and click Download for Linux or Download for macOS. Save the file to the Downloads folder on your computer.
For this next part, you will need to open your Terminal application. If you use Linux, you will probably already be knowledgeable in this area. The instructions will be similar for macOS users.
If you are using a Mac, you may not be familiar with using the Terminal application. However, stick with me. It may seem intimidating, but the process is actually simple.
Open the Terminal application on your computer, type the pwd command, and press Enter. This will show you the file path of the current directory, it will say something like /Users/[account name]. Note this down for the next step.
Next, type the following command into the Terminal and press Enter. Make sure to replace [account name] with the name you see on your computer (see the previous step).
This will begin downloading and installing everything needed to run Easy Diffusion. This may take a while. Once the process is finished, it will automatically open the Easy Diffusion interface in a browser window.
How to Create AI Images with Easy Diffusion
Like other text-to-image generators, you create images by describing what you want to see. There is an example ready for you to test in the text box, otherwise, jump straight in and start typing in what is known as the “prompt”.
Most of the settings are hidden by default as they can make the interface highly confusing. But there is one area I recommend exploring. Check out the + Image Modifiers button located above the prompt area.
Easy Diffusion provides a very simple way to download every piece of code needed to run Stable Diffusion on your computer. Once installed, the user-friendly interface will open in a browser window, where you can use Stable Diffusion’s powerful image generating capabilities.
